Transition- an essay by John Downton

ASMA Fellow John Downton OAM has written a comprehensive and very interesting account of his life in art. John refers to how he got started, and many of the artists who have influenced him throughout his painting life. He recalls his experiences with amusing anecdotes about well-known and famous painters, past and present. Among those referred to are Arthur Murch, Henry Hanke, Leonard Long, Lloyd Rees and Albert Namatjira to name a few.
